The Spa at the Peninsula Hotel Paris is hushed and secluded. If you didn’t know you were in 16th Arrondissement, you would be forgiven for thinking you had arrived in the Far East. Spotlessly clean, the Peninsula’s contemporary interior is a bare minimal sanctuary, with cool floor boards, wood paneled walls and inlaid doors as well as being lit by candlelight which gives it a feeling of calm throughout. My purpose for visiting the Peninsula was to get a much needed pedicure on a quiet Friday evening in the City of Lights.
It gets to the point sometimes where my yoga mat literally calls to me to return to yoga class at ashtanga.ie – usually when I haven’t been very disciplined or at practise in a while. Having been recommended the exotic sounding Tropical Magnolia Massage at the George V hotel in Paris, I took the opportunity to make an appointment when I was last passing through the romantic city. The spa located off the main reception of the hotel by way of a private elevator is a calm soothing series of treatment rooms decorated in Queen Anne style with elegant chairs and floral wallpaper.
