Gifts from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh

” Simplicity of living, as much as possible, to retain a true awareness of life. Balance of physical, intellectual and spiritual life. Work without pressure. Space for significance and beauty. Time for solitude and sharing. Closeness to nature to strengthen understanding and faith in the intermittency of life: life of the spirit, creative life, and the of life human relationships” .

I cannot help but pick up Lindbergh’s timeless classic ‘Gifts from the Sea’ and find the book a calming read. My small pocket sized edition is printed on thick creamy paper and has been on my desk for many years. Not only is it a beautiful read but it also contains messages of simplicity and solitude that are shared themes of Unwind and Let Go. Continue reading “Gifts from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh”

Country Living – A wonderful week in Ramelton

We have traveled North for a week in the country. Our beautiful accommodation Moorfield Lodge  sits at the edge of a forest looking out over a field of buttercups and white clover, outside the town of Ramelton. The silence is the first thing we notice, away from the city we become conscious of the stillness of the landscape. Continue reading “Country Living – A wonderful week in Ramelton”

Citrus scented facial at the Urso Hotel Madrid

Urso Hotel MadridWith only 24 hours to spare on a hot and humid day at the peak of the Summer, I decided to unwind with a Citrus scented facial at the spa at the Urso Hotel Madrid in the center of the city. Despite a mix up in my appointment times, the hotel reception were kind and accommodating and were thankfully able to find me a slot in the busy spa schedule. The spa located at basement level includes a Hamman, a Hydrotherapy pool as well as 3 treatment rooms and is a cool place to relax at the end of the day. Certainly when I arrived, it was filling up with after work escapees looking for some quiet time at the end of the day. Continue reading “Citrus scented facial at the Urso Hotel Madrid”

Pedi & Mani at the Peninsula Hotel Paris

Peninsula Hotel Paris

The Spa at the Peninsula Hotel Paris is hushed and secluded. If you didn’t know you were in 16th Arrondissement, you would be forgiven for thinking you had arrived in the Far East. Spotlessly clean, the Peninsula’s contemporary interior is a bare minimal sanctuary, with cool floor boards, wood paneled walls and inlaid doors as well as being  lit by candlelight which gives it a feeling of calm throughout. My purpose for visiting the Peninsula was to get a much needed pedicure on a quiet Friday evening in the City of Lights.

Returning to Yoga class at

It gets to the point sometimes where my yoga mat literally calls to me to return to yoga class at – usually when I haven’t been very disciplined or at practise in a while.  This morning I finally got back on my mat and went to a Mysore style class at, where I have been a student for a number of years.
