We have traveled North for a week in the country. Our beautiful accommodation Moorfield Lodge sits at the edge of a forest looking out over a field of buttercups and white clover. With only 24 hours to spare in a hot and humid Madrid, I decided to unwind with a Citrus scented facial at the spa at the Urso Hotel in the center of the city. Despite a mix up in my appointment times, the hotel reception were kind and accommodating and were thankfully able to find me a slot in their busy schedule. The spa located at basement level includes a Hamman, a Hydrotherapy pool as well as 3 treatment rooms and is a cool place to relax at the end of the day. The Spa at the Peninsula Paris is hushed and secluded. If you didn’t know you were in 16th Arrondissement, you would be forgiven for thinking you had arrived in the Far East. Spotlessly clean, the Peninsula’s contemporary interior is a bare minimal sanctuary, with cool floor boards, wood paneled walls and inlaid doors as well as being lit by candlelight which gives it a feeling of calm throughout. My purpose for visiting the Peninsula was to get a much needed pedicure on a quiet Friday evening in the City of Lights.

Having been recommended the exotic sounding Tropical Magnolia Massage at the George V hotel in Paris, I took the opportunity to make an appointment when I was last passing through the romantic city. The spa located off the main reception of the hotel by way of a private elevator is a calm soothing series of treatment rooms decorated in Queen Anne style with elegant chairs and floral wallpaper.
